1. Who is responsible
Sema Lens is an on-location photography business based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Privacy questions and requests may be sent to basomalamhi@gmail.com or made by phone at +1 (647) 867-8599.
2. Information we collect
We collect only information reasonably needed to answer inquiries and manage potential or confirmed bookings. This may include your name, email, phone number, preferred contact method, session details, dates, location, number of people, requested deliverables, approximate budget, referral source, an optional reference image, consent choices, correspondence, agreement details, invoice link, payment status, and internal booking notes.
Basic security information such as IP address, request timing, and anti-spam verification may be processed to protect the form. Sema Lens does not collect or store card numbers on this website.
3. Why we use it
Information is used to respond to your request, assess availability, prepare a custom proposal, communicate about services, administer an agreement, send a Square invoice, verify a retainer, confirm a booking, add a confirmed session to Google Calendar, meet legal and accounting duties, prevent abuse, and respond to privacy requests.
4. Consent for photographs and promotion
Submitting an inquiry does not permit Sema Lens to publish your photographs or video. Promotional or model-release consent is separate, optional, and unchecked by default. If consent is discussed later, its scope will be recorded clearly. Declining promotional use does not affect your inquiry or booking.
5. Service providers and processing
Information may be processed by providers used to operate the service, including website hosting and protected storage, Cloudflare security, email delivery, Google Calendar, and Square invoicing and payment services. Each provider receives only the information needed for its role and may process information in Canada or other jurisdictions where it operates, subject to its safeguards and applicable law.
6. Retention and deletion
Unsuccessful or inactive inquiries are kept only as long as reasonably needed to follow up, maintain business records, resolve disputes, and meet legal duties, then deleted or anonymized. Confirmed booking records may be retained longer for agreement, tax, insurance, and accounting purposes. Optional reference files are protected and deleted when no longer required.
This public website does not host private client galleries and is not used to store or deliver final private client photographs.
7. Security
Access to inquiries is restricted to the owner through server-side authentication and authorization. Data is stored in protected platform services; uploads are type- and size-checked; administrative updates are validated and recorded; and secrets remain on the server. No online service can promise absolute security, but reasonable safeguards are maintained and reviewed.
8. Access, correction, and deletion requests
You may ask in writing to access the personal information Sema Lens holds about you, correct inaccurate information, or request deletion where retention is not required by law or a valid business obligation. Send the request to basomalamhi@gmail.com. Identity may need to be verified before information is released or changed.
9. Marketing and cookies
Inquiry information is not used for marketing without separate consent. The current website does not use non-essential advertising or analytics cookies, so no cookie-consent banner is displayed. If non-essential tracking is added later, appropriate notice and consent controls will be introduced first.
10. Updates and concerns
This policy may be updated to reflect operational or legal changes. The effective date above will be revised when material changes are published. Please contact Sema Lens first with a concern so it can be addressed promptly. Depending on the circumstances, you may also have the right to contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
